Online Needlework Show April 15 – 20: Punch Needle Trunk Show: On May 1st – 16th we will have models from Red Barn Collections by Carrie Beenken. Please come and see this Iowa artist’s work. She will be teaching a class here in punch needle using her red barn design on May 2nd. Let’s fill the table to encourage her efforts!

Please register at least two weeks in advance of scheduled dates to allow for ordering of supplies in time for class. Fees include supplies and instruction unless otherwise stated in class descriptions. Please add 7% tax to fee if you mail it in. There are no refunds for class fees once I have ordered supplies, but you may reschedule a makeup time at your convenience. Thurs. Apr 16th 10:00-12:00 or 6:00-8:00 p.m. – Beginning Knitting: Learn to cast on, knit, pearl and bind off. Class will be getting the technique down and if you feel comfortable starting a dishcloth. Fee includes instruction book, a pair of bamboo needles & yarn (color choice in class) Class Fee: $19.50. If you just need a review or practice, you can join us at no charge. Sat. Apr 18th 9:00-12:00 – Cross Stitch Plus: Using a bead accented design from Papillon Creations called Winter Wood, you will do cross stitch plus learn fishbone, rhodes diamond, queen, woven ray, pulled square eyelet and fly stitches. Threads used will be silks on a evenweave 28 count ground fabric. Stitch size is 54 x 54 and can be finished as an ornament, pincushion, or card insert. Class Fee: $18.50. Thurs. Apr 23rd 6:00-9:00 – Beginning Silk Ribbon Embroidery: Make a sweet basket of silk and beaded flowers with a Mill Hill design. The basket is bargello, the flowers looped bead and spider web silk roses, detached chain buds and silk french knots – eek! (They are not really that bad.) Design fits on a medium heart charm which may be worn as a pendant or add a pin back to wear as a pin. This is a great technique to use to embellish clothing. Class Fee: $24.50. (limited to 3 people) Sat. Apr 25th 9:00-12:00 – Blackwork Mini Stocking: Your choice of floss colors, plus a metallic, will decorate this cute little Christmas stocking from Heartfelt Designs. Learn reversible blackwork done with the running stitch. Just the right size to make into an ornament. Class Fee: $20.50. Thurs. Apr 30th 9:00-12:00 or 6:00-9:00 – Rainbow Sherbet Runner: From Top It With a Runner book by Waldschmitt you will do a bright and cheery looking table runner with rail fence blocks. Finished size is 17 ½” by 44 ½” with a pair of stylized fusible applique flowers on each end. Class fee includes pattern, fusible web, stabilizer and fabric for the front of the runner. You will need your own batting and backing to finish. There are 6 other designs in the book for you to do on your own. Class Fee: $39.00. (Bring your sewing machine, rotary cutter and ruler.) Sat. May 2nd 9:00-11:00 – Punch Needle Barn Sampler: This class will be taught by Carrie from Red Barn Collections, a new designer in the punch needle field. The design has a red barn scene complete with a windmill and alphabet and numbers lined up on the top and bottom. The design is pre-stamped on fabric for you. Fee includes pattern, floss and instruction. Class Fee: $22.50. You will need a 3 strand punch needle (additional $9.00 if you don’t have one) and a non slip hoop such as a Susan Bates. Sat. May 9th 9:00-12:00 – Tulip Fantasy: This is a charted canvas piece by Susan Kerndt. A tulip radiates out from center in each quadrant done in a combination of florentine embroidery and laid fillings. Shades of silk in violets are accented with silk and wool greens in Caron Collection threads. Design is worked on a 9” square piece of 18 count mono canvas. Class Fee: $42.50. Thurs. May 14th 9:00-12:00 or 6:00-9:00 – Elegant Hardanger Accessories: Pattern by Roz Watnemo has a scissors fob with matching needle book and scissors case. Materials for all pieces are included in class fee, but we will concentrate on the fob in class. You will do klosters, cutting, weaving, and satin stitches used in this lovely technique from Norway. Class Fee: $25.25.
