Economic Stimulus Sales all summer: Please save the enclosed insert calendar sheet for reference to see what is 15% off when. Each sale will last for approx. 2 weeks starting with knit/crochet patterns, yarn, needles, hooks, etc., continuing with beading supplies, quilting items, threads, cross stitch kits, notions, cross stitch fabric & patterns, and in store frames. Which brings us to our 16th anniversary celebration in September beginning on the 22nd. Sale will be applied on regular priced items and the thread sale does not apply to DMC or Anchor floss as they are always sold at a price below suggested retail. If you order by our web site, simply put economic stimulus sale in the comment section and I will give you the discount before I run your credit card.

Economic Stimulus Calander

Car Keys: Someone left a set of Buick car keys on the counter with a remote entry fob – if it opens your door they are yours.

Ridiculous Day/Sidewalk Sale: Join us on July 11th from 7:00-4:00 for bargains galore on Waverly’s main street. While we don’t take everything outside, you’ll find $1.00 patterns, ½ price kits and more. Fabric on bolts on the sale rack inside will be 50% off.

Thank you to all of you that participated in the Online Needlework Show – watch for the next one in October.

Free patterns: Thanks to Elizabeth’s Designs and Textured Threads by way of Wichelt Imports.

Class Schedule: Usually we have scheduled classes to learn a specific technique. While we have included different learning opportunities, this summer I have chosen projects to enhance your stitching experience. Choose from things like a folding birthstone Hardanger banded ort box, a stump work pansy topped ort basket, a knitted pouch (for your MP3 player to soothe you with music while you stitch), a no sew pop-up sewing case, a beaded metal needle case, a huck embroidery pin cushion, a cross stitched scissor pocket, or acrylic floss tag along.

WE WILL BE CLOSED ON SATURDAY, JULY 4TH.

TECHNIQUE TIP: Embroidery Designs and how they are affected by copyright laws as of Jun ’08

With the wonderful embroidery sewing machines available today here’s some information about the designs for them. When designers of embroidery patterns produce and release designs, they have effectively relinquished control over the uses of the pattern regardless of the format. While the embroidery physical pattern itself may be copyrighted, the product made from the pattern is not. The embroidery pattern is a set of instructions to a computer for making a utilitarian object. Like other software, embroidery patterns are sold, not licensed.

Bottom line - you may NOT:
1. Make copies of the embroidery pattern to either sell or give away.
2. Post a copy of the pattern on the internet for others to use.
3. Modify the embroidery pattern and sell it as your own.

Under Copyright law you may:
1. Make copies of the embroidery pattern for your personal use.
2. Make more than one item for personal use of for sale from the embroidery pattern.

So, if you have 30 grandchildren and want to make them all matching shirts with the same embroidery pattern that says “Grandma loves me best”, go right ahead.
