We just got in some new colors from Dark Horse Yarns in their Beautiful line. This is what I call a ladder yarn that looks like a rail running along side satin stitch rectangles with spaces in between. Many people are doing a chain crochet stitch with this yarn to make necklaces that have about 5 strands in them. The web site www.darkhorseyarn.com has several free patterns using Beautiful. This yarn also looks great made into a scarf by knitting every row with a large needle. The larger the needle the lacier it looks. Fringe can be added to the bottom for a nice finish. Cast on as many stitches as you want it to be wide. I think the model we have in the shop has 15 stitches. These would make quick easy gifts for Mother’s Day that will soon be here.
The colors are from l-r and t-b are turquoise blues and light gold with gold metallic, purple and blues with silver metallic, black with a copper metallic, red, orange, yellow and pink with silver metallic, lavenders with silver metallic, pink with silver metallic, royal blue, orange, magenta, lime with gold metallic, red and rose with gold metallic. These are the new colors. We also got in more of previous colors that had been out of stock.
We’ve almost got the menu set for Easter dinner. All the children and grandchildren and my mother will be at our house to eat. Jennifer and Alan usually write clues for the kids to follow to find their “treasure” and I hide eggs outside, too. I think they found all but one last year. Each is assigned a color so the younger ones have as good a chance as the older ones to gather eggs. Then they help each other if they haven’t found them all. This will be Griffin’s first year to hunt. I’m sure his cousins will be more than willing to help him.
Here is a picture of a tin box cover I just finished attaching. I will exhibit it in the Prairie Rose Chapter E.G.A. Needlework Show that is coming up in April. Be sure to attend this event on April 20 and 21 from 12:00-5:00 each day in Cedar Falls at the Senior Center next to the library on Main Street. Admission is $5.00 and there will be many beautiful pieces to inspire you.
The Love to Shop Hop Trail will be starting on Wed, April 10th. Be sure to put this on your calendar for 20% savings on quilting material, patterns and books through Saturday, April 13th! Visit all seven shops and leave your stamped card to be entered into a drawing for $50.00 gift certificates from each store and other quilting supply door prizes. Show last spring’s completed mystery project to be entered into another drawing.
Have a Blessed Easter!
