It is ready to view – the project was designed by Jennifer and finished last night by me. Here is a picture:

This pattern will be available for purchase starting June 1st when the All Iowa Shop Hop begins. We do still have some of the limited edition fabrics in the black words and blocks on white and colored words and black blocks on white. We will also offer a partial kit for this design if you would like. The Iowa section will not be included in the kit as you can use the charm blocks you get during the hop or use small pieces from your stash as each block is only 2″ x 2″ cut. Out of a 6″ charm block you can get 9 squares “counties”. We do know that all of the counties in Iowa are not perfectly square and the same size, but we didn’t think it had to be “real”. Besides this makes it a lot easier to piece together and I think you can tell what the shape is supposed to be. The quilt block pattern used on the top and bottom of the state center section is called the Iowa Star Block. The centers can be adorned with buttons or charms or embellished with quilting. For quilting on the model, I simply went around the outside of the state shape and around the outside and centers of the Iowa Star blocks. In the border I outlined the sashing and repeated the shape of the corner hearts equally spaced around on the border fabric. You can, of course, quilt it how you would like, but I was looking for something quick and easy . We placed our checkered heart button in the approximate location of Waverly on the map. We will include a heart button in with the pattern so you may mark the place of your choice. Hope to see you all then.
Jennifer is also working on an easy sewing machine cover that will use the limited edition fabric along with some great brights in orange, lime green, yellow and blue to brighten up your sewing area and keep the dust off your machine.
