The 2018 issue of Sew Iowa for the All Iowa Shop Hop has arrived. Pick up your copy for only $7.99. It has a directory of 91 quilt shops that are participating in the AISH PLUS 8 patterns featuring the limited edition hop fabrics for this year. It also has some articles of interest for your reading pleasure. Stop in and get yours before they are all gone!

Thank you to all who participated in our Love to Shop Hop Trail. We had 125 people visit all six of the shops. We appreciate the great turnout after the snow on Wednesday.

May will soon be here and after turning another year older we will have May flowers on sale. From May 15-19 anything with flowers on it will be 15% off - fabric, patterns, scissors, buttons...

Just Nan

The next Just Nan pattern has arrived. It is called Cloverly's Bunny Bungalow and is another 3 dimensional piece - cute as can be!

Construction starts up again on Highway 3. One lane of traffic in each direction and no parking in the street is what is happening here. From the bridge to 8th Street east there will be not turns off Bremer Ave except at First St. We have one leased space in the private lot behind the store for customers to use (#13). There are also parking areas south of the State Bank on First St SE and across from the post office on Second St SE. You are welcome to use the back entrance off the alley. The front doors of all businesses should still be accessible from the four feet of sidewalk that is remaining in place. We are glad to mail things to you, too, if you can't get in - just give us a call.

For those who haven't heard Lizzie Kate cross stitch designer has retired. We will miss her cute and meaningful sampler patterns!

Love to Shop Hop Trail

It is almost time for the next run on the trail. April 18 - 20 there are six shops participating this spring: Fiberworks Needlework Shop - Waverly, Prairie Rose - Clarksville, Dralle's - Greene, Jen's Needlework - Aplington, Crazy to Quilt - Cedar Falls and Lulijune's - Cedar Falls. Remember to pick up your passport at the first shop and get it stamped at all six with your purchases. Turn it in at the last stop for a six yard bundle of fun quilting fabrics. It's always fun to see what shops have created for models of ideas as to what you can do with the fabrics. See you then!!

Football Sunday Sale

It is almost time for the BIG game. Join us from 12:00 - 4:00 on Sunday, February 4th for 25% off all regular price, in stock items. Not only are we celebrating the BIG sale, my honey and I are celebrating 41 years of marriage and still smiling! You'll have plenty of time to come in and enhance your stash and still get home in time to watch your favorite team win. If you order online on Sunday, just put football sale in the comment section and you can also get the sale price. (It will not show in the cart, but will be subtracted before your card is charged.) See you all then.

Pop Up Hop

Pick up a passport at your first stop. Turn it all stamped in at the last shop to receive your fabric. Shops to visit are: Fiberworks in Waverly, Dralles in Greene, Prairie Rose in Clarksville, Jen's Needlework in Aplington and in Cedar Falls Crazy to Quit and LuliJune's. Pop Up Hop dates are Oct 25-28 hours from 10-5 each day.

While we are open on Thursday until 8:00 during the hop - a word or warning - that night is also trick or treat night downtown Waverly so there will be a bazillion kids out on the sidewalks and crossing streets. i would recommend not trying to shop after 5:00 ;).

Here is a sample of what you could do with your fall fabrics - just add a border of your own choosing. We used a fall piece that had lots of the colors in the tone-on-tones to make a throw size quilt. I have several that would work with these - leaves, butterflies, abstract designs.

New Scissors

The limited edition Gingher scissors for 2017 just arrived. They are called Lauren and have a bright blue and white lattice design on the handles. Call to reserve or stop in to pick up a pair before they are all gone!

Block of the Month

The Block of the Month project coming up next is called Color Me Happy and is a throw size quilt finishing at 57" x 69". Now you need to sit down - the model is already made! Rachel got is pieced together before she left me to go back to teaching pre-school. (Can't believe school starts again in a week.) It will be $8.00 per month for 12 months. She also finished piecing the Amish With a Twist so you can see what it looked like (The previous BOM) Let me know if you'd like to sign up for this one so I can have enough patterns on hand.

Remember that Row by Row is coming to an end the day after Labor Day. We do have a few On The Grow kits left so if you want one but can't get in before then, you can call and reserve one to be mailed after October 31st when the hibernation period is over.

We also have some Row By Row Junior Friendship Bracelet kits left, too.

AISH 2017

There is still time to come in and get your sticker and charm square for the All Iowa Shop Hop that runs through the end of June. Here is the design Three Jars Full made using the jelly roll strips in the black and white plus some yardage of the feature fabrics. We did add a couple of grays but you could also add a touch of color if you wanted more than a neutral piece. Patterns and a couple of kits are available for purchase while supplies last.

2017 Row

Row By Row On The Go starts next Wednesday, June 21st and runs through September 5th. During this time stop into any of the participating quilt shops to pick up a copy of your complimentary pattern for their row. We will also have kits available for purchase if you want to use the same fabric we did and buttons. (We love to add buttons to our rows) Here it is:

Collect 8 rows patterns from 8 different shops, make them into a finished quilt. Each shop will give a prize of 25 fat quarters, plus a bonus if that shop's row is used in the quilt, to the first person to bring in their piece. There are MANY shops participating throughout the US so it gives you a chance to get rows from other places if you vacation during the summer.

New this year is Row By Row Junior for the 9-14 year olds. There is a free pattern for them as well - very simple for beginners. The first five youngsters to bring in their competed row gets a certificate of completion and a ribbon. What a great way to encourage the next generation to get into sewing! Pass your love of quilting on to a child or grandchild and take them on the hop with you. We also have kits for this row if you like our choices.
