With all the hot weather we’ve been having, it is definitely time to think about Christmas to at least mentally cool us off. Just received the photo of the cover of the Just Cross Stitch 2012 Ornament Magazine. Can you find your favorite designer’s piece on it?
If you don’t subscribe to the magazine and would like a copy of this issue just let us know and we will save you one when they come out in September. I have been making a Christmas ornament for each of my grandchildren so I am looking for five ideas now. I have been doing fairly simple and “young” fun things. As they get older I can do more intricate and more fun to stitch for me ornaments. I have done mostly embroidery, cross stitch or felt things so far. I might try some Lizzie Kate punch needle or nutcracker beaded ones this year. I also would like to do some on perforated paper that look like ribbon candy. When they are ready to leave home they should have a good start on ornaments for their own tree.
The youngest, Griffin, just turned one last week. We all just about melted on the Adventureland trip we took on Sunday at 96 degree temps, but all had a good time. Some of us took a break in the afternoon to visit Homemakers that is a huge furniture store in Des Moines. Jennifer found some furniture for their new house and I even found a Laz-y-Boy sofa that I would like to get – just not sure what color yet. My poor chair has a gaping hole in the upholstery and our sofa bottoms out in the middle cushion when you sit on it. Monday we got Griffin and his parents moved from Waterloo to Cedar Falls. Took two trips with the stock trailer. Still have a few thing in the garage and basement that will go in the pickup to move yet.
